When people talk about real estate investments they are
usually talking about property investments. But real estate

is were buy consent to buy the property before it is developed
or built. For this developer will often give you a large
discount in the price. For example if a developer was building
a block of flats he may offer you a £20,000 discount on a
flat costing £200,000 this is not uncommon.
With property prices at their current level it can be difficult
to cover the mortgage payments, let alone make a profit on
the property. The real money is made by the rise in property
values over the meduim to long term.
Land is also the same with gains in the medium to long term.
The advantage land investments have is that you would normaly
buy the land outright therefore you would have no mortgage
to cover and no other bills etc.
Land is a tangable asset and low maintanance therefore is
gaining popularity with investors from around the world.
